When are cheer practices?
Cheer practices are once a week on Thursdays, traditionally 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, in the high school grey gym. Practices begin the first Thursday after July 4th, and will run until the end of the Jr Phoenix football season. There will also be two extra practices, dates to be published closer to the start of the season. One is a three hour choreography practice, where the cheerleaders learn their performance routine to music, and one more in November on a Sunday to prepare for the Phoenix Invite Cheer Competition.

When and where do the cheerleaders perform?
Cheerleaders cheer for and at their respective grades’ Jr Phoenix home football games.  The cheerleaders do not travel to the away games. All home games are played on Saturdays at Menomonee Falls High School Schumann Stadium. The football games are usually scheduled to begin early September and continue through mid to late October.  Games are an hour to an hour and a half long. Each game has four quarters that are eight minutes long, and a five-minute half-time.

Additionally, the cheerleaders will perform a routine to music during half-time at a MFHS Friday night varsity football game, usually in late August, as well as in exhibition at the MFHS Phoenix Invite Cheer Competition, usually held in late November.

Are there additional costs beyond registration?
The league will provide the cheer shell (top) and skirt to all who participate (this is included in the registration fees) and these items are collected back at the end of the season. Parents are responsible for purchasing the following items: practice t-shirt(s), black shorts and/or pants, warm-up jacket, all-white cheer shoes, underskirt shorts, and white midriff top. As we get closer towards the season, information will go out to all the parents on the online store where these items can be purchased.  Returning athletes may use items that still fit from previous season except for the practice t-shirt. The practice tshirt and warmup jacket must be purchased through us, but the remaining items you are free to purchase these items from anywhere you like.

Are there any volunteer requirements from participating families?
Cheer-only families do not have a minimum number of volunteering hours to provide to the organization.  Instead, families may be asked to provide snacks for choreography night and other similar requests during the season.

Are there any fundraising requirements?
The Menomonee Falls Junior Phoenix Cheer and Football program is a non-profit, self-funded organization. Every year, we look for opportunities for the families that participate to help raise funds for the program. These efforts help defray registration fees and allow us to use the high school field and things like new uniforms (2023) and new poms (2024). We ask that each family make an honest effort to raise at least $100 in fundraising.  Stay tuned for how you can help MFJP stay a vibrant program.

How are safety related issues handled?
The Menomonee Falls Junior Phoenix Cheer and Football program takes the safety of all participants and volunteers very seriously. Please feel free to visit our 'Safety Information' for more information as it relates to certain topics such as concussion protocols, heat and weather safety issues, COVID-19 related protocols, and other links to CDC topics regarding Youth Sports.

We have a medical professional on the Board of Directors who oversees all safety related incidents that occur during practices and games. At each practice there is a safety crew that tends to each incident during football practices and at games there is always a professional trainer on the sideline with first aid supplies including an AED to ensure the safety of all participants. In addition to the individuals on the safety crew and trainers, all coaches receive training and are safety certified.

Can we have a partial refund if we only play part of the season?
No, refunds will not be offered if you withdraw after you have registered which is our standard policy. Due to all the expenses that are involved with each registration (i.e. insurance, equipment preparation, scheduling referees for number of anticipated teams, etc.) These fees can not be refunded, except in certain situations.
